Proofreading

The final polish before publishing

What is proofreading?

Proofreading is the last defense before publishing and should be done on the final formatted PDF version of your manuscript. This round of editing is completely mechanical and ensures your book is polished before publishing.

What Do I Focus On?

  • Correcting typos
  • Verifying spelling and phrase usage
  • Addressing grammar and tense issues
  • Fixing missing and misused punctuation
  • Adjusting numeral vs written-out numbers
  • Applying correct capitalization and italicization
  • Identifying formatting issues

This is basically everyone’s last look before you hit “publish”!
