Line Editing

Bringing your voice and your characters to life

What is Line Editing?

Line edits go all out. Every aspect of your story and your writing is studied and optimized. This is like a facelift for your manuscript. We’ll make sure sentences and paragraphs flow together and that each sentence—nay, each word—is perfect.

What Do I Focus On?

  • Natural sounding dialogue
  • Consistency in character voices and actions
  • Point of view issues
  • Scene pacing, tone, and atmosphere
  • Killing your darlings
  • Balancing showing and telling
  • Removing information redundancy and repetitive/overused words
  • Adjusting passive voice and weak verbs
  • Optimizing paragraph flow
  • Varying sentence structures
  • Improving diction and narrative prose
  • Maintaining and elevating the author’s voice

Once you’re happy with the actual story, the line edit makes your writing sparkle and shine
