Romance Book Editing Services

Plot holes, typos, Mistakes, oh my!

More than Just Typos

Did you know there are Different types of editing?

It’s true! Many authors I work with used to think proofreading was the only professional editing service and that beta readers were for everything else! It’s even common for authors to think that copyediting and proofreading are the same (hint: they aren’t).

And that’s okay! You don’t have to know all the nitty-gritty details about editing. That’s what I’m for. I can help you figure out which services you need to make your story shine.

As you move down the list, you can think about the editing processes getting more narrowly focused.

What are the different types of editing?

  • Manuscript assessments help authors get a quicker (and often cheaper) bird’s-eye view of their story by examining its structure, plot, mechanics, and use of genre conventions.
  • Developmental editing looks at the overall structure of your story, including the plot, character development, pacing, setting, etc.
  • Line editing focuses on the voice, flow, style, and tone of your writing.
  • Copyediting is all about grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax. I will also check for consistency and accuracy in the details of your story, such as character descriptions, settings, and historical and lore accuracy.
  • Proofreading is performed on formatted and ready-to-print books and is purely designed to catch leftover typos, grammatical errors, and formatting issues.
